Fire Revisited

A tragic fire burnt down Artist Proof Studio on 09 March 2003, taking the life of co-founder Nhlanhla Xaba. As if by premonition, I had been working just weeks before on a series of prints, Smouldering remains. 

Again, another fire, this year, that burnt down my home study. The charred picture frames left ghosts of my mother, grandfather, and grandmother on the wall, and I feel they somehow watched over the protection of our house. Small moments of discoveries in the rubble have brought blessings and gifts from my mother and grandparents that reassert my belief in regenerating cycles of fires, loss, and hope.
